From October 4–9, 2026, our partners from IMT Atlantique participated in the 29th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and Systems (MODELS 2026) held in Malaga, Spain.

Organised with the support of the ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (SIGSOFT) and the IEEE Technical Community on Software Engineering Home (TCSE), MODELS is the world’s premier conference series for model-driven software and systems engineering. Bringing together leading academic researchers, industry experts, and practitioners, the event provides a collaborative forum to exchange breakthrough research results and real-world practical experiences.

Doctoral research & technical contributions

As part of IMT’s participation, Yassine El Mouhi presented his paper, “Specializing Large-Language Models for Collaboration Workflow Generation in Software Engineering,” at the Doctoral Symposium. The paper explores foundational concepts and methodologies that contribute directly to the research objectives of the MOSAICO project, bridging model-driven software engineering and multi-agent systems.

Throughout the conference, the team delivered several presentations highlighting advancements in modeling languages, methods, and architectures. The event offered an ideal platform to engage with the international software engineering community, gather feedback, and discuss critical research directions.

Key technical discussions centered on:

  • Model-driven approaches for AI communities: Utilising precise software modeling languages as communication vectors between AI agents and human engineers to enhance reliability and reduce single-agent biases or hallucinations.
  • Orchestration & coordination: Structuring complex software engineering tasks through collaborative BDI (Belief-Desire-Intention) frameworks and automated interaction patterns.
  • Governance & supervision: Defining policy languages and runtime engines to ensure trust, explainability, and consensus among collaborating AI agents.

Driving innovation across emerging domains

This year’s edition of MODELS truly emphasised advancing the foundations of modeling to tackle emerging challenges in cyber-physical systems, machine learning, cloud computing, open-source ecosystems, and sustainability. The valuable insights and collaborative exchanges gathered at MODELS 2026 will directly inform the ongoing technical developments of the MOSAICO platform.

We extend our sincere thanks to the MODELS 2026 organisers and attendees for an inspiring week of research and innovation!
